I grew up Catholic and am grateful for the sense of awe and mystery that was instilled in me through my religious education. As an adult I chose to explore and embrace the Protestant side of the Christian house and am equally grateful for my experiences there. I am a traveler; I journey through life and the universe of spirituality. I am always seeking deeper and wider meanings to life. My personal expression of the Divine Presence in this world is eclectic and ever-unfolding.
At some point in my journey, I was given a prayer titled "O Creative Breath" and it caused my heart and mind to soar with its beauty and tender expression of Divine Love. This was given to me before the creation of the internet so I was not able to locate its precise source. I had only the name of the translator. I now know this is a compilation of six translations of the "Our Father" from the original Aramaic language that was spoken at the time of Jesus, the Christ.
I will share the compilation here (with gratitude to Mark Hathaway for permission to do so) and encourage each of you to use the link provided to access all six translations. Each one is beautiful, poetic beyond anything I could have imagined. My soul, my spirit, the very essence of my being shouts, "This is the way Jesus, Divine Love in Human Form, would have prayed!"
First, the link to the site with the six translations: http://visioncraft.org/aramaic/index.htm
At this website, you will find links to the web sites of the translators: Mark Hathaway and Neil Douglas-Klotz. Thank you, gentlemen, for so graciously permitting me to share your work.
The compilation prayer I have been blessed with for so many years:
O CREATIVE BREATH
A translation of the “Our Father” from the Aramaic by Mark Hathaway & Neil Douglas-Klotz
O Creative Breath,
Ebbing and flowing through all forms,
Free us from all constrictions, so that the current
Of your life may move us without hindrance.
Fill us with your creativity, so that we may be empowered
To bear the fruit of your vision.
Moving to the heartbeat of your purpose,
Make us the embodiment of your compassion.
Endow us with the wisdom to produce and share
What each Being needs to grow and flourish.
Empty us of frustrated hopes and desires,
As we restore others to a renewal of vision.
Do not let us be seduced by that which would divert us
From our true purpose,
But illuminate the opportunities of the present moment.
For you are the ground of the fruitful vision,
The birthing power, and the fulfillment,
As all is gathered and made whole once again.
I hope that you will join me in exploring the original six translations. It is my intention to immerse myself in them and make them my own as the truth and beauty therein contained reveal the Divine Love being expressed in my human form. Namaste.
