Come Home to The Truth of Who You Are

I decided the other day to re-read, or at least skim through, I book I read a while ago, This time I chose The Book of Knowledge by Don Miguel Ruiz. Chapter 3 is titles "The Lie of My Imperfection." Even typing that I stop and re-read the title out loud. Then I read the highlighted parts several times and sit with my eyes closed, breathing these truths in, trusting that I am absorbing them into my bone marrow, into the depths of my being. As I look back over my life, all 76 years of it, I see that being able to see these truths and then allowing myself to heal so that my True Self could manifest  has been the crux of my human journey. I do not know where you are in your human/spiritual journey but thought you might appreciate a few of Don Miguel Ruiz's thoughts.

“The way I learn about myself is by hearing the opinions of the storytellers around me.”

“You have to do this, this, and that to be a good boy. Then you will get a reward.”   “I start pretending to be what I am not to avoid the punishment, but also to get the reward. ”

“What I don’t notice behind all of the messages I hear are the silent messages that are never said, but that I can understand: I am not the way I should be; it is not okay to be me.”

“Behind that message is something very subtle. I call it the lie of my imperfection. It is the main lie that I agree to believe about myself, and from that lie, more lies are invented to support it.”

“If God is perfect, well, God is the one who creates everything. If I really believe in the perfection of God’s creation, then I think that all of us are perfect or God is not perfect either.”

“For me to say that I am not perfect or that you are not perfect is the greatest insult to God, from my point of view.”

“We are born in truth, but we grow up believing in lies. This is the whole drama of humanity, the whole problem with storytellers.”

“If we don’t see our own perfection, it’s because our attention is focused on our story. The lies in our story keep us from seeing the truth. But with awareness, we can change the story and return to the truth.”

I have nothing to add to his words.

However, I want to invite you to give them some thoughts.

And consider reading this book.

It just might bring you home to yourSelf.

How fun would that be?!
