Many Teachers; Common Truths

There are as many expressions of spirituality as there are nations, cultures, languages, and people. The common ground shared by most of them both delights and encourages me because we live in a time where separation is all we see. Even in my homeland, the ability to compromise in order to work together has waned. Friendships and families are challenged to live in peace when they do not agree. Some find a way and some do not. Not everyone gets along with their parents or siblings but that doesn't mean they don't love each other. Maturing and mutual love allow many to come together in times of celebration and/or crisis. When Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast, I watched in awe as a news crew filmed a lone man in his motor boat searching bayous for survivors. It didn't matter what church or political party he belonged to. It only mattered to him and to all who watched him that people would not survive without help. He stayed behind and found as many he could. More recently I watched parents hand their babies and small children to western military members over sand bags and walls so they would have a chance to survive the war that had ravaged their country for decades. Again, all that mattered was the love of parents for their children and the love of soldiers for those they could barely communicate with but who were not really different from them.

This past week I came across two beautiful statements about our common spiritual desires as we seek to know our True Selves and the Divine Love that created this world and all its inhabitants. I am inspired and encouraged that there are also multitudes of people all over our world living from hearts and minds devoted to God, to Divine Love.

From the "Kuan Yin Oracle" cards:

To The Celestial Mountain

You have the ability to invoke divine power, to call to the Celestial Mountain so that you might be gifted with the spiritual energy you need to attain your goals. Permitting beings that love you unconditionally to help you is an expression of spiritual empowerment: you empower the divine forces that can assist you to come to your aid and help you manifest your visions.

Sisters of the Star Blossoms:

Whilst we each take our own journey to divine bliss and truth, we have soul friends that love us unconditionally and wish to help us find our way home with the least suffering and greatest joy. When we allow ourselves to be helped, we help others, too. It is a spiral of support and love that wishes to connect more with you now.

Who is Kuan Yin? She is the female Buddha of Compassion. The sources I have found suggest that she appeared in China sometime after Catholic monks traveled from the holy land across what is now Russia and then south into China. They brought teachings of Jesus Christ as well as their devotion to his mother Mary. The religious artifacts of Mother Mary and Kuan Yin (also spelled Quan Yin) are strikingly similar. Religious teachers introduced the Divine Feminine in our world and it has taken centuries for these teachings to be incorporated and shared. May our hearts and minds recognize that God is One: Divine Mother/Father God
