I Live From The Truth Of My Soul
“The most fortunate are those who have a wonderful capacity to appreciate again and again, freshly and naively, the basic goods of life, with awe, pleasure, wonder and even ecstasy.” ― Abraham Maslow
When I decided to begin with this quote, I read it at least ten times. I discovered it many years ago and it still touches my soul because I have known this state of being. As a child, teenager, and young woman, this was me through and through. People around me told me, quite regularly, that I needed to grow up and face reality. I was criticized for seeing life through rose-colored glasses, for believing that people were basically good and that the world was a beautifully wonderful place.
At some point, I decided it wasn't safe to manifest my True Self. To protect that tender, precious part of myself, I began to adopt facades and personas that allowed others to be more comfortable around me. I knew I needed to love and be loved and there was no one to teach me how to achieve that and still be true to mySelf.
It has been quite a journey and I am profoundly grateful that I never really rejected mySelf and, as a result, I never buried that part completely. I always had an awareness of and turned within to that place of wonder and awe and appreciation. In my forties, Divine Love began to draw me to others who were beginning to live from that place of awe and wonder and I tentatively explored revealing that side of myself as well. Imagine my surprise when I was accepted, loved and encouraged to explore the Universe freely and openly!
Just having completed my 75th year, I am still discovering the deeper essence of that tender, precious part of mySelf. I appreciate the wisdom of having protected, without rejecting, my inner self. Have I realized full freedom? Not yet but I am well on my way. One does not shed a lifetime of living defensively over night so I allow the unfolding of my own freedom, knowing I have the opportunity to create the life this sweet Soul desires to live. I have the opportunity to manifest Love and Light in my own way and in my own time. All is as it is meant to be.
My journey has resulted in an ability to have compassion for the journey of others. We all need to love and be loved in return. We all need to know that it begins with ourselves. Blessings to those who grew up in an environment that encouraged that from the beginning and who have known deep personal freedom this entire lifetime! Blessings to those of us who survived our own facades and are now emerging into our True Selves, letting our Souls shine as the facades that saved us are melting away. Blessings to those who remain in the belief that the facades are real and may they soon awaken to the truth of who they are. May we all meet in the Oneness of All That Is/God. May we all remember that we are Love and Light in form, spiritual beings currently having a human experience. May we let it be easy and may we live in the wonder of it all.
