Are You Weary Of it All?

Almost 12 months ago, I cancelled a trip to Las Vegas. I was going to meet my daughter for a long weekend and attend my dear friend's St. Patrick's Day party. I canceled because of COVID-19. The challenge became to find adequate toilet paper and food before stores ran out or closed completely. To say it was an upsetting time falls short of the reality we all were experience in the early months of 2020. Then we thought it would be a month or two, right? Now we are in the early months of 2021. I am having groceries delivered because it is safer. I faithfully wear a mask when I leave my home. By summer, it will have been almost 18 months since I have been with my daughter (we usually are together 3 times a year). I am fortunate to live in the same city as my son & his family. We spent 8 months apart. After following all of the necessary protocols, including testing, I am now in their bubble and it has made a huge difference in my mental/emotional health and wellbeing. In another 5 weeks I will have received both COVID shots. I don't know yet what that means for my day-to-day life.

What I do know is that my primary goal and intention is to maintain physical/mental/emotional balance so that the waters (the flow) of my daily life are as calm as possible. It has been an exhausting journey and I am beyond weary of it all.  How are you doing? Are you connecting with family and friends even though it must still be by email, phone, or some other technological tool like ZOOM? I find that it helps most of the time. Some of the time, it isn't enough but I let myself feel that, sometimes cry, other times meditate an extra time or two that day, and just get through the day.

The short meditation groups I host online help me as well. Group energy enhances and deepens the benefits of meditation. Those benefits help me achieve and maintain balance on every level: emotionally, mental, physical. I also am taking a weekly yoga class so I can be led rather than always leading. Laughing is important because it stimulates the brain to produce body chemicals that lift the spirit. Laughter doesn't always come easily but it does come - like when I am playing with my grandchildren, now 7 and 4. My daughter and I play UNO on an app she found and we make it extra fun for each other. Regular walks and/or bike rides also stimulate good hormones helping to keep my heart and muscles healthy. I completed my 75th year in January so I stay in touch with my doctor, eat a healthy diet, etc.

It can be exhausting finding and maintaining balance and wellbeing...more so than before COVID. Are you as weary as I am of it all? Explore my website for information on weekly meditations, read my blog, and discover how to book private mentoring sessions. May we all come through this and have the opportunity to create our daily lives the way we want them to be.
