Let Your Weirdness Be Your Strength

The title of this blog is actually a quote from a New Moon Gathering presented by Sarah Taylor early in 2022. The essence of her presentation that night was that I am here to be uniquely me and that it is perfectly fine to not be understood or accepted as I live my truth.

I wasn't raised that way, were you? In my teen years I was told to "just be yourself" but what was meant was "Behave the way we (parents, priests, nuns, teachers) tell you to behave." I was taught very clearly to figure out how to earn the approval of those I loved and those who had authority over me and were held up as virtuous role models. It was a lot to deal with when my role models fell off the pedestals they had erected for themselves and others. Witnessing their choices and the judgement that followed taught me a lot. I became a bible teacher because of my love of God. I could only teach from what I knew and believed at the time. When my awareness expanded years later and I began to speak and live from that expanded awareness, I also experienced the harsh judgements and rejection common in the religious world.

It was a time of dramatic changes in  my personal circumstances and relationships. It was also a time in my life of wonderfully expanded teachings of the depths of love, compassion, and joy available to humans living from the truth of their oneness with Divine Love. I began meeting people who laughed when I was silly, listened when i was confused, and appreciated my spiritual growth when I expanded more deeply into the possibilities of All That Is (one of the translations of our word "God" from an indigenous language).

What others had found weird about me, many were now finding exciting and refreshing. I realized my weirdness had been one of my strengths all along because it gave me the passion for exploring the Universe and its Creator and Sustainer. Divine Love manifesting in this material world is real and ever-expanding. Divine Love is known and manifested in a multitude of languages, customs, and philosophies.

May we honor our own oneness with Divine Love and may we honor others as they discover and manifest their own.
